Message From the President

As a member of the SAOGA GA Chapter I am proud to honor our alma mater with our commitment to working together to live life more abundantly.  I remember being at school, laughing, playing, attending sports day, the cafeteria, sitting under the trees and of course attending classes.  I formed a bond with fellow students who remain some of my closest friends even across the miles.  Today I stand as the President of the chapter, giving back just a bit of what was given to me as a young girl.

As we look today at the beautiful young ladies at our school, we recognize that the spirit of the school is the same, but the challenges and needs have evolved with the changing times.  Today’s young ladies have been impacted by COVID 19 in ways none of us ever expected, and are having to adjust and adapt with the pandemic.

Our primary goal is fundraising.  These donations go directly to support the school, students and school initiatives.  As a Chapter, we must rise to the challenge with creative ideas, commitment, perseverance, integrity, and dedication to these efforts.    We need your help.  We need your commitment.  Our school needs your donations.

Where does your donation go?

Welfare Fund – This is ongoing and has a greater financial need.  We assist with care packages for students a few times a year that include toiletries, food, etc.  This represents a significant need for young ladies who do not have the family support for these items.  We donate funds and actual products.

Student Scholarships – Per school year we provide 4 students with school uniforms, school fees, books, lunch money, transportation, and toiletries.

School Initiatives – The school, PTA and Foundation will select initiatives for which we provide financial support.

You can find out more information on these under the About Us section of this site.

2022 School initiative:

IT Infrastructure Upgrade:  This project is to improve and extend the internet availability.  The overall budget is USD$25,000.  The GA chapter is targeting a donation of at least USD$3000 and we could use your assistance.

How can you get involved?

Become a Member:  Your membership goes a far way showing not only your personal commitment but your financial contribution.  Membership dues mainly go towards the student scholarships.  We currently sponsor 4 students annually.

Support Fundraisers:  Throughout the year we host various fundraisers and send these donations to the school towards various requests and for school Initiatives..

Donate:  You can donate at any time and can airmark your donation towards a specific purpose.  We will include your donation with our next donation to the school.

Join a Committee:  We can always use new ideas and participation.  These committees will work together to meet shared objectives and report progress to the executive board as well as to fellow members.   Please see About Us to select a committee you are interested in and send us an email.

Spread the Word:  We welcome everyone regardless of location, so encourage your year group and friends to join and participate in fundraising. Please encourage others to view this website to keep updated on news and events.

Visiting Jamaica:  Be sure to shop for toiletries and drop off a package with the school Guidance Counselors.  Every little bit helps.

So far in 2022 we contributed to the IT Infrastructure, Welfare Fund and Care-for-a-Sister Easter Welfare Drive.  We collected USD$4300 towards the 95×95 Fundraiser for the school’s 95th Anniversary Fundraiser.   In addition, we provided 2 suitcases of toiletries and donated 10 laptops to the school.  We have upcoming fundraisers and would appreciate your donations to help support our ongoing fundraising efforts.

We meet every other month and would love to see and talk to you at the next meeting.
